Yes. As a part of the registration fee, each player will receive a two button T-shirt sleeveless shirt, a nice 6 panel cotton ball cap, and one pair of socks. The player will furnish gray pants or any color shorts as decided by the team. Player also provided shoes and a glove.
A new team starts with a maximum of four players; daughters of the head coach, two assistants and a team sponsor; the rest are drawn in a "blind" draft, sorted by school or subdivision to try to ensure each player is on a team with other players that she would know. Teams from a previous year can stay together and can move up to the next bracket together. Requests for certain teams can be placed but not guaranteed.
All home games are played at the "Girls Softball Complex" located behind Franklin High School on Hillsboro Road. The four diamonds are the only fields in Franklin City Limits dedicated solely for girls recreation softball. For the Spring 2008 season, each team should see at least half of their games played at our park on Saturdays with most of the weekday games played at Fly Park located behind Trinity Elementary on Hwy 96 East.
At our park Field A is for ages 10 thru 18. Field B is used for all ages. Field B is for ages 8 thru 12 and Field D is for only the 6s thru 8's
Besides playing tams in the GSAF, there are eight other communities that we play; Bethesda, Brentwood, East Williamson (Trinity), College Grove, Fairview, Grassland, Heritage, Hillsboro and Nolensville.
Yes, but never on Wednesday. Most of these games will be played at Fly Park. Due to the number of teams now playing (in 2007 there were over 120 teams) Fly Park gets booked during the week and now some GSAF games are layed back on our fields on Weeknights.
Yes, For 13 years, until 2001, the GSAF hosted our own Invitational Tournament. In 2002, for the first time, the Williamson County Rec. Department hosted and controlled the Tournament. It is typically a week long tournament for all the Recreational teams in Williamson County that played during the regular spring season. No travel teams play in this tournament.
In 2008 the Tournament will start on Tuesday May 27 and end by Thursday June 5th.
Not at this time. Aren't you tired of selling something for everything your daughter does? The GSAF is pleased to offer a low registration fee and also have local companies sponsor teams to cover the rest. We get no other funding from anybody.
Yes. The "HOME PLATE GRILLE" is open during every home game serving grilled hamburgers, Chicken and hotdogs, cold drinks and basic snacks. It is staffed by girls playing within our Association and all profits are returned back to the GSAF.
No. Though we have a concession stand manager. The Concession did for years use the help of all parents, but not any more as we are now using girl players registered within the Association.
